Project Bluebird

Project Bluebird: Paving the Way for a Legacy

Project Bluebird is a Legacy Voyages initiative to help Diné storyteller and emerging traditional healer Sunny Dooley return to her ancestral land and continue her life’s work of restoring hope to the Navajo Nation. For more than a decade, Sunny has guided Wonder Voyage pilgrims with stories that carry generations of wisdom, resilience, and faith. But after COVID-19 devastated the reservation—claiming hundreds of elders and leaving deep spiritual wounds—Sunny stepped into an even greater calling: offering healing, counsel, and care to families in crisis.

To make this possible, she needs a safe home and a place where healing can take root.

Project Bluebird is more than a construction effort—it’s an act of justice, friendship, and legacy. Together, we’re helping ensure that Sunny’s voice and the light of her people continue to shine for generations.

Project Bluebird: Phase 1

In Phase 1 of Project Bluebird, we raised $55,000 to gravel the road, provide access to well water, and begin restoration on Sunny’s ancestral property.

Project Bluebird: Phase 2

Project Bluebird is moving into Stage 2, where we will renovate the long-abandoned home and ceremonial hogan so Sunny can finally live and serve there.
