In 2022, a group of passionate adventurers from Legacy set their sights on Kenya. Their mission was clear: to invest in the future of Ndoto school by furnishing a computer lab. But this trip became so much more than a project. They walked the school halls, met the vibrant community, and shared stories and laughter. Then, they embarked on a safari, leaving them in awe of Kenya’s breathtaking beauty.
Once the team returned home, fundraising began. Within a few months, we raised money to furnish two vans.
Two years later, in 2024, the Legacy community came together again. We raised funds to continue supporting the Ndoto school in honor of Catherine Ray’s commitment to the cause. This time, their contributions fueled the school’s growth, ensuring that dreams could take flight for the children they had come to care so deeply about.
Now, 2025 is just around the corner, and Legacy is preparing to return to Kenya. This time, the mission is to fund the construction and furnishing of a classroom—another step toward empowering education in this remarkable community. And when the work is done, the adventurers will once again journey into the wild for a safari that promises to inspire wonder and connection.
The Legacy Kenya adventure isn’t just a trip—it’s a story of impact, community, and unforgettable memories waiting to be written.
In 2009, Allison Slack founded Ndoto: For Africa’s Future to empower people in the slum areas of Kisumu, Kenya. During her postgraduate years, Allison lived and served in the area and wanted to help people pursue their dreams without sacrificing their dignity and survival skills. Through economic and educational development, Ndoto, which means “dream” in Kiswahili, is gifting a generation of young Kenyans with hope and a future.
Each team member can add on a three-day safari at the end of the trip. These adventures will search for Africa’s “big five” in their natural habitat: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and Cape buffalo while enjoying a luxury camp in the evenings. This type of voyage will ruin zoo visits for the rest of your life.
